The female libido-enhancing drug Flibanserin, marketed under the brand name Addyi, has beenĀ referred to as the 'Female Viagra' and is the first of it's kind toĀ receive US FDA approval.
We all know about viagra, that recognisable little blue pill that has helped to transform the sex life of millions of men worldwide, treating erectile dysfunction by improving blood flow toĀ the penis to improve erections.
Flibanserin works nothing like the viagra, with viagra you take one pill when you wantĀ to haveĀ sex and bingo, the incorrectly labelled 'female viagra' is actaully an anti-depressant used to treat hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), it works by altering/balancing the chemicals presentĀ in the brain, you take the medication daily andĀ starts to work around 2 weeks after you've start your treatment.
Results so far suggest that this drug will produceĀ 1 extra satisfying sexual experience per month compared to a placebo, which may seem like a small number but this can account for a huge increase depending on levels of sexual activity and the existing number of satisfying sexual experiences prior to this treatment.
This drug is sure to receive a huge amount of interest in the near future and the results will soon become apparent.
So what are your opinions?
